Hi Paul - thanks for your comments, and sorry it's taken so long to get
back to you.
I tend to agree with what you're saying, and we've decided that we're
not going to propose a price to the client for an e-commerce option at
this stage as they really aren't sure quite how they want to do this (if
at all!). However, we are going to try and guide them through a more
comprehensive analysis process so that they can identify whether they do
actually wish to proceed with this part of the project. I'm sure you
know what it's like - sometimes you not only have to design a site for a
client, but you also have to write the content, decide what they would
include, wipe their bums, etc!!
We're keeping a note of all interested parties and will certainly get
back to you if & when the client decides to progress the e-commerce side
of the site (that's assuming, of course, that we get the site
development in the first place!!)
Thanks for your help so far.
Cheers
Kerry

It's not just the server that your client has to consider. There are all
sorts of other issues, dealing with returns, organising shipping,
customer enquiries. In business steady growth is ususally preferable to
mad leaps - I think it's wise for him to dip his toes in the water. Make
all his mistakes with a small site, get used to the whole process, and
then decide whether to move up.
