After upgrading to SP1 I noticed no difference whatsoever - no increase in
speed or performance, but more importantly, nothing untoward happening
either.

SP1 has a lot of bug fixes and most of the critical updates - it's worth
upgrading for these alone. If you don't have broadband it takes a devil of
a time to download and install - in my case just over three hours!

I searched on the freelancers archive as I though this topic had been

Has anyone installed SP1 for XP home, and can anyone comment on why or why
