Theoretically, of course, as a musician and web developer I know that. When
I say speed here, I mean 'apparent' speed to Joe User, ie the time it takes
to buffer and the total time taken to play the clip, including pauses and
rebuffering etc.
The fairly low bitrate examples I listened to, didn't 'appear' to stream
faster than from a normal server - obviously for a live feed and/or high
quality source, there would be noticable improvements using a dedicated
media server. When I'm a bit less busy I'll bother you off list with one of
my band tracks, and we can give it a try!
