i've got the file now, it just doesnt seem to realise the soundcards there!
the soundcard says it needs the drivers, the drivers say it needs the
soundcard... maybe it was built by the government? :D...

I get that occassionally if the connection dropped while retrieving mail
via outlook and the server decided that I was still logged on.
Normally cleared up after a few minutes or if I used a webmail...

AFAIK it's to do with your internet cache. The image is a jpg file but
is converted by you OS. Clear your cache and try it. Perhaps someone has
the proper explanation but I've seen it before..

Yeah, it means your web cache is full. Delete the contents of your
Temporary Internet Files in IE:
Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files
Will stop the image saving coming up with the file as a .bm...

You're right. You'll need to query all four (RIPE,ARIN,APNIC and LACNIC) if
you want to find out where they are. But if you're only after US IP
addresses then you can just check for the IP...
