Absolutely true - I worked for Digital for a number of years and recall
how advanced All-In-1 (all-in-bits as it was known internally) was
compared to Profs what I was to use at IBM a few years later. PC systems
have only recently caught up!
We must have been bidding against each other at times!

LOL! Exchange was a poor relation of most Unix and VMS corporate mail
systems until very recently. More than 10 years ago, I was using
Calendar
and To-do lists on ICL OfficePower and you could give permissions to
your
mailbox "folders" just like you can now with Exchange - I can remember
thinking how crap PC mail systems were in comparison.
Mind you, I don't know about Open Source - shouldn't see why not though.
Ximian supports iCalendar AFAIK, and so do many email clients, so...
