RE: FN-FORUM Twin Display Question
date posted 5th January 2003 13:25
The matrox 450's and 550's (agp) support dual monitors (from a single
card), I use both and can recommend them for development work. They're
rubbish for 3d gaming though or if you do any poser/3dmax work you'll
find that 3d rendering is sluggish and unimpressive.
I think (and this is purely opinion) that if you can find a good pair of
hi-spec nvidia pci cards (do these exist?) you'll get the best of both
worlds.

Subject: FN-FORUM Twin Display Question
Now there's bound to be plenty of folks here that can make
recommendations/suggestions on this ....
I really do need to get a second display - I'm currently using a single
15" TFT but the 'real estate' limitations are driving me loopy. I have
a GeForce2 MX200 graphics card (AGP?) that purports to provide TwinView
(i.e. two monitors), but it seems that it can only do this if one of
them is a regular TV using the S-Video out connector.
I believe I have 2 options here :
1. Purchase another graphics card to run the second monitor (I've been
told I'd do best to get a PCI one so that I can tell the BIOS to boot
using the AGP card?)
2. Replace the existing card with a single card that will provide true
twin VGA monitor support (e.g. 2 VGA outputs). There is a GeForce that
does this (my mate has one, although I can't seem to find anyone that
sells it.
So, does anyone have any suggestions?!
