Sometimes you have to set the screen res to 2048x768 (i.e., double the
width) and that forces the span across 2 (that's how muy cr&ppy patriot
laptop did). Don't know about the vaio - 1600x1200 is enough ;-)

Sony Vaios certainly don't seem to. I'm running WinXP with the desktop
stretched across the builtin LCD and an old CRT.
Seems to work fine. It uses an ATI Mobility Radeon and has VGA and TV
out if the info's of any use to anyone.
