It all depends on how many items there are. If it's just a simple
Male/Female question, it seems inefficient to use a drop down (which'll take
at least two clicks or a click-drag to select) when mutex radio buttons will
let you do the same job in one click.

OTOH, drop downs are far better suited to country lists and similar.
