RE: FN-FORUM Re: [ OT ] physics question...

There was a really good program on Discovery (I think) about AF1/2 (the
747's) Marine 1 (the helicopter) and the whole support crew etc for flying
them for the president. It also went into the 2 galaxy support planes which
are normally sent on in front of the presidential flight.
The program did say they used RR engines...but the link by martyn shows
GE's.

Well Boeing seem to think its one of their planes -
http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/military/af1/flash.html
Here's an extract from their site:
"Air Force One is a Boeing 747-200B aircraft that was extensively modified
to meet presidential requirements. The original paint scheme was designed at
the request of President John F. Kennedy, who wanted the airplane to reflect
the spirit of the national character. He also directed that the words
"United States of America" appear prominently on the fuselage, and that the
U.S. flag be painted on the vertical stabilizer."
So although Air Force One is undoubtedly also a presidential call sign - it
is also the name given to the presidential 747s.
