It's not just the large consultancies: I was contracting for a
multi-national in Brussels and they have just transferred my project to
India. Needless to say I didn't go with it; they have now shut down an
entire support operation (including permies) in the quest for greater
savings. The project I was working on had 2 people on it and we have
been replaced by 11 in India (it makes sense to somebody I am sure). To
add insult to injury we had to train our replacements......
