There's a one-page article in tomorrow's Economist: 'Outsourcing: America's
pain, India's gain'. It says the "export revenues of India's
software services market reached $6.2 billion last year, up from
under $500m in the mid-1990's".

Further, "from mid-2001, they put a freeze on investments in
software development centres and recruitment. Instead, an aggressive
marketing campaign was launched to boost the image of India as an
outsourcing location...".
