I've installed MSDE several times without any problems. Just did the
full install and job done. When you install it though, the system
account is set for windows authenticaion only so you can't login via IP
and SQL Server persmissions. So you have to use enterprise manager on
the SAME machine (or at least on the domain that you have windows
authentication rights on) to then change the server settings to SQL
authentication and then you can use the standard IP/UID/PWD type
connections.

I didn't keep notes, but I do recall this being a tad more interesting

perhaps it might have been.

Two questions: First, did you change anything from the default params as

went in; Second, is there a little app running in your tray to control
