It's called triboluminescence....the purple glowing from the envelope seals,
not the sweaty middle aged men in Salsa classes....

You get a similar effect in dry weather by cracking polo mints apart in the
dark with a pair of pliers. Well, it used to work....

I occasionally get dragged to Salsa classes in Leeds by a workmate.
Something I won't elaborate on...:-)

Damn you Paul, I've been wedged in that cupboard for hours with an envelope
- more fun than dancing with smelly middle aged men in my Salsa class...
