you can decelerate your car faster than you can accelerate it. (60-0 in
3.5sec as a rough guide)
Oh, and your natural reaction would be to brake or steer away, not
accelerate, so I don't agree with your argument.
Plus there's the other driver to account for, is he going to brake?
accelerate? steer away from where he thinks you're going, but right into
your new path?
How many times have you been walking through town and had to dodge
oncoming pedestrians? how easy is that to judge? now multiply the speed
by a factor of 15...
I think that if you saw car heading towards you ready to sideswipe you,
you'd swear, brake, swerve and if you were lucky the angles would stack
up and you'd miss each other.
and before you assume otherwise, just because I'm arguing against
excessive speed, I'm not arguing *for* slow driving.
People who disregard the rules, usually disregard a lot of other rules
too.
people who do things outside the rules become unpredictable and they're
the ones I have a problem with.
