i came across them in new scientist a few months back, they're currently
finishing off a method of mass-producing them - basically creating sheets of
the things and then cutting them out.
they're likely to be tested out in supermarkets within the next few years so
as you pass a checkout point your shopping is automatically totalled with
the list and price sent to a till. you pay while your shoppings being
packed and off you go... stops those embarassing 'richard madeley' moments
when you go 'ooh, how ever did that bottle of vodka get there?' :D
michelins starting to insert them into tyres later this year for pressure
and identification reasons - expect to see them popping up everywhere from
milk cartons to ready made meals - they'll inform you when they're going off
and, if some advertsing wanker gets his way, what wine would go well with
your food!
they'd also be perfect for shart-range commincations with vehicles - iirc
theres already a plan to use them on roads for some reason i can't remember
atm
