Just a thought,

Nobody has mentioned the java enterprise technologies (ejb, SOAP web
services, application middleware servers), truck loads of stuff available
for java as the .net stuff would seem to be a 'few' years behind. ASP.NET
and C# does appear to be Microsofts equivalent to JSP/Servlets but this area
of .NET will improve by increasing the range of .NET providers to compete on
speed with the rich range of JDBC drivers for db access to really compete at
the moment.
