If there is no contract between you, the work is yours - unless you did it
as an employee, in which case it belongs to your employer. If your client
told them that they owned the rights (and didn't get them from you) they
should approach your client. It really depends what contract you had with
your client as to whether you can show it or not. They can ask you not to
link. There's case law for that.
