FN-FORUM: ADSL

Not knowing much about ADSL, do most ADSL connections require the modem to dial an actual phone
number?

My new modem / router does not appear to have this funtionality, which I need, and I cant get
dial-up networking to 'see' the modem.

Any ideas?
