Still looks just as stripy. And there's still a white border to the left of the menu. The menu has a horizontal scroll bar, so you have to scroll right to read the items, but there's a white border on...

Looking at it with true colour 32bit 1152 x 864 it looks superficially fine. However, I think that there is insufficient contrast between the purple text and the darkest part of the graduated purple...

Looks ok (well not banded) on my win2k. The banding is probably caused by the laptop/desktop only having 256 colour support, probably old/badly configured graphics cards. Make him change his graphics...
