FN-FORUM: sponsorship of sites

Hi there, has anyone knowledge (personal or word of mouth) of a site that
started off as a bit of a hobby and went on to get sponsorship (rather than
straight advertising?) And does anyone know any agencies that chase after
sponsorship for a cut?
