Re: FN-FORUM: Bankers?

I'm with Abbey National. The service is okay. As long as I write fewer
than 25 cheques a month, I have no service charges. Electronic transfers
are free, so I pay for everything with a credit card, which is then paid off
with a single D/D every month.
The downside with the Business Accounts is that you can only deposit using
their ATMs, which take 4-5 days to register. Even cash. Telephone banking
and Internet Banking are no additional charge, and can be set up as soon as
they've completed opening the account. However, telephone banking seems to
be going through teething problems (they changed their service late last
year, and are still working on it) where I've sometimes had to talk to a few
reps in order to get something done. Overdrafts are free to set up.
If you need a foreign currency account, they have troubles with that - their
foreign accounts are handled by a different bank.
I have some concern that their Business Banking hasn't made the money they
had hoped, and that they may decide to up the service charges, but so far
there hasn't been any problems.
Does this answer all your questions? If not, ask away.
