I've come across this before - he can receive mail from his POP mail server
anywhere in the world but cannot access his own SMTP server because he's
outside their (the mail provider's) network. He needs to send outgoing mail
through BT's SMTP server - check around on BT Openworld's web site for
configuration info ... it might be really obvious like smtp.btopenworld.com
or smtp.btinternet.co.uk or something like that. Everything else stays the
same.
