Seconded. I bought an ex-rental NICAM Finlandia (I suspect it's a Nokia,
really) for about 100GBP about 5.5 years ago. Still going strong. That's
more reliable than most /new/ TVs.
I figure the rental places probably do extensive testing on the reliability
of the models they take on, so they don't have repairs cutting into their
margins...
OTOH, I bought a Philips VCR at the same time, and that was a nasty,
tape-chewing piece of ****. Avoid mechanical ex-rental stuff, I reckon. ;-)
