How bizarre. I'm facing an almost identical question at the moment. =20

Found myself an Audi A4 estate, 1.9tdi, 98S with 69,000 miles for 7500
although I think I might be able to get it down another few hundred.
Got a few scratches but basically a decent motor, and really the only
thing putting me off is the fact that in three years it'll be a 100k car
and potentially worthless :/

My alternative is also something like a Focus or Astra diesel; the low
mileages and more modern specs (esp aircon) are attractive although I
can't help feeling that the A4 would be more or less bombproof. Anyone
know if they run into major servicing territory beyond 70k??
