Hi Robert (and a Happy New Year)

I have had a look at the graduate recruitment company's site, and I
believe I would be able to help you out.
I imagine the development will take 2 to 3 iterations depending on the
amount of information available at the start.
I have tried to envisage how the work could progress, and added some
detail to the work involved below. I have also indicated a few
questions next to the appropriate section.
Phase 1
--------
Initially I would expect the design team to provide their basic grey
screens that reflect the information required to be inputted, and the
basic navigation - no finishing of graphics/appearance required at this
stage, although no major changes in implied functionality would be
expected after this.
I would then take them and add a first pass of code, with the aim of
getting the pages back to the gui design team ASAP, so development can
continue on these.
I would then create the database schema, and the first functionality
pass with sections 3) companies & 4) gradates being the initial
priority.
I envisage that the work would be uploaded to Source Four's test
servers, else I can use my own test machine.
We would then discuss progress and there will be an opportunity to add
minor modifications in the data fields if need be. Control of the 3) &
4) could be handed back to gui team=20
Phase 2
-------
-First pass at 1) content management.
-Refine sql
-First pass at 2) job search
- hand over 1) & 2) to gui
-progress update
Phase 3
-------
- update 3 & 4
- update 1 & 2
- testing
- client handover / upload to client machine so Source Four can
demonstrate.
>1) Content management so that client can add/manage jobs and=20
>graduates through a password based browser interface. (entries=20
>entered into the
>database)
- [Question] Would there be any authorisation element ? i.e.
authorising companies before they can post jobs ?
- [Question] You could have links to aaaa jobs have been added today,
view all jobs added today
+ nnnnn companies have been added today, view all companies added
today, etc. =20
- [Question] Is the type of information & management activities
established ?
>2) Job search under different criteria (no area search=20
>required) only industry sector, salary and keyword
- [Question] I presume industry sectors supplied by the design team /
the same as GRC
- [Question] would this be an exact replication of the GRC site ?
>3) Companies can register and upload jobs
- 3.i) Registration,=20
- 3.ii) email validation/account activation
- 3.iii) Edit Company Details
- 3.iv) Add Jobs
- 3.v) Edit Jobs
- 3.??? - [Question] Is there a requirement for Companies to be able
search graduates ?
>4) Graduates can register and apply for jobs (and option of=20
>uploading a C.V
- 4.i) registration,=20
- 4.ii) email address validation/account activation
- 4.iii) upload C.V. (how will this be accessed by other users ?)
>Quotes and examples of previous PHP/MYSQL work required.
I have over 7 years development experience across a broad range of
languages and technologies.
I previously worked for Teleca, a medium size consultancy in a senior
software engineering primary producing web based solutions for large
blue chip clients. These were mostly database driven dynamic sites
using J2EE and Oracle or MYSQL. =20
In a freelance role I collaborated with tree frog design on a web based
document management system for Protodel; who have now been taken over.
Tree Frog should be happy to provide a reference for my freelancing
abilities.
I am happy to work under your development & version control system.
I setup alteris as a freelancing vehicle at the end of last year, and
whilst this venture is in its early days I still aim operate in the
professional manner I have done in my past employment.
Recently I have produced dynamic music service elements in PHP/MYSQL for
musyc.com and rock666.com.
My quote would depend on the timescale you need to complete the work in
& answers to the questions, but would be based around a rate of =A315 =
per
hour. I believe the work could be completed within 3 to 5 weeks
duration (I've added some contingency their). This depends on speedy
resolution of questions and good communication with your end client.
I would be able to start towards the end of this week subject to your
grey screens being completed. When were you expecting work to commence
?
If you have the grey screens completed already, I would be interested in
looking at these; especially the company / client functionality as I
cannot access these via the graduate recruitment company site.
I am based in East Lancashire; whereabouts are you based ? It maybe
possible to meet up, although I think we should be able to work fine
together online.
If you think you are interested please let me know how you envisage
going forward from here.
Regards,
Ian=20
