This functionality is not dependent upon the distrib.
Any linux distrib with samba http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/samba.html
installed should be able to do this. Having said that, I have only
configured a domain server on a linux box, I have never had a need to get a
linux box to log on using a domain server on windoze. However I am sure this
will be possible with samba, just a bit more involved.
http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/using_samba/toc.html is a great free
resource for learning about samba.
My recommendation for a distrib is debian. Bit geeky, and definately not the
friendliest install. (less spangley bits) However I installed it over a
broadband connection onto a machine last night, starting at a minimal
network install from http://www.debian.org/distrib/netinst and then letting
debian install all the other packages I wanted across the internet (rather
than burning lots of cd roms from ISO's). It is now much, much easier to
install compared to the last time I used it. But, to be honest, if you are a
newbie to linux, I wouldnt recommend debian - there are easier installs.
