Do you usually use authentication for your outgoing mail. I do, but lots of
ISPs don't.
SMTP is running as I can telnet to the server and say helo to it. And yes,
it (certainly thinks it) does use auth
What happens if you try to receive immediately before you try to send? Is
this your ISP's server and are you connected via your usual connection? Or
someone has screwed up sendmail on the server.
