IIRC Adobe photodeluxe (comes with some scanners) installs PDF writer - a
print driver that makes PDF's

I also have a copy of Jaws PDF Creator that was free on PC Plus a while
back. (you got broadband?)

and there's PDF Factory - not free but pretty good for the price:

but OpenOffice is great - open a word doc, export to PDF
