I keep timesheets for even fixed price jobs, and there is a clause in
my contract saying that if the job falls apart because of errors or
problems caused by the client, i'm able to invoice for work done at my
usual hourly rate and walk away.
Even if you didn't keep track of time - I would estimate the
completeness of the project, bill that % and send a CD of everything
you have done along with the invoice - they may not want pay it, but
what have you got to lose?
