RE: FN-FORUM: Phone > SMS -> Web -> SMS -> Phone

Rich, as already stated by other members, there are lots of ways of =
doing
this, however the key question is the amount of SMS traffic you expect =
to
generate.
Low end solutions such as using a mobile phone allied with software such =
as
kannel, or perhaps using a GSM modem (such as a Wavecom unit) with =
software
such as SendXMS (brilliant software and very cheap IMHO)which is one of =
the
routes I tend to go, is dictated by the GSM spec which gives a =
throughput of
around 1 message per 4->6 seconds. Also remember that this is half and =
not
full duplex.
Any rates higher than this or if you require the use of short codes etc
dictate other solutions, normally going through an sms broker such as
Virtualplus, Airbit, Clickatel, Mblox, Wins etc
Let us know a bit more of what you are up to and Im sure we can point =
you in
the right direction

Subject: FN-FORUM: Phone > SMS -> Web -> SMS -> Phone
I have been asked to look into a way of allowing someone to text a =
message
from their mobile to our site, we then run some code on our server based =
on
their request and return the results to their phone...
I've not done anything like that in the past... anyone done anything
similar?
thx
