Whilst also not wishing to start it all up again,=20
and agreeing that CSS makes more sense,=20
it just doesn't work.
I have tried quite hard to use CSS: result looks ok=20
in my browser, but nowhere near consistent in others.
I really would have expected the 'browser wars' to be over,=20
but no.
There does not appear to be any browser that implememts=20
the standards, either for CSS or ECMAScript or DHTML,=20
and no test suites from the standards bodies for the=20
browser manufacturers to test against, no graceful degredation.
I have no idea how to make a site that works in lynx, IE4/5/6,=20
Netscape 4/5/6/7 and Opera without either:
1. Stick to HTML 2.0
2. Browser sniff and serve separate sites.=20
I know noone here is responsible for this situation,=20
but maybe we should all go on strike until the=20
the Central Committee sorts it out :-)
cheers
