Re: FN-FORUM: CSS v Tables

date posted 3rd February 2004 17:00

Again, nothing to do with ccs vs tables dabate here, each to their own I
say, the tutorial at
http://www.digital-web.com/tutorials/tutorial_2002-06.shtml is a bit
mis-leading because the file size of the html page is bigger yes but more
because its been coded like a dog with spacer gifs everywhere and background
colours etc specified in the html rather than stylesheets, decent code
shouldn't have any.

Personally I like to create the main layout of a site in tables but css
styles for everything else such as position, colours, fonts, backgrounds,
borders, etc etc etc and that validates and degrades better than css only
layouts.

You can control the appearance of all the content and site colours etc or
anything else you can do with css layouts using tables, you assign css
styles to tables as you would do with layers, difference in file size is
nothing if it's coded properly.

nobody is a better designer/developer doing it one way or another but its a
pain in the arse people think their above others because they layout in css,
if anyone got a problem with that I say piss off, show me your portfolio and
I'll show you mine.

Muchos Gracious.
