We bought a second-hand Panasonic KX-P8415 colour laser last year for about
£180 quid (ex VAT)via ebay and it's been pretty good so far. It does depend
on how perfect the photos need to appear on the sheets though as to whether
it'd be a good choice for you as it does print in 'lines' which you can see
if there's bulk colour areas. However, it doesn't really spoil the picture
unless you were looking for a photo to frame.
We use it for business use and it's been great - does that nice shiny,
slightly raised print (technical terms here!) as the toner is melted on. Two
paper trays, plus a manual feeder (which can do labels - but watch it as
lasers can only handle certain kinds of paper and labels - best to check
with your letterhead printer to be sure). It also does duplex printing.
The toner isn't cheap, but they do around 40,000 sheets each I believe, so
if you can get a deal with some toner included (as we did), it's certainly
worth it. If buying second hand, you also need to check the status of the
oil roll and the fuser unit (which IS expensive, but lasts a long time. We
got a good price on the printer as it needed a new fuser unit).
Best of luck.
