FN-FORUM: Database/Server Issue
date posted 27th February 2004 15:04
We have a bespoke database on a client site that went HAL this morning and
deleted the news sub-section. Fortunately, the news section is routinely
backed up after each change, so it *should* be a simple issue of just FTPing
the old version back up. However because it's a live database, the file
can't be deleted/over-written. We can't shut down the server, because it's
remotely hosted and we wouldn't be able to FTP in to re-upload. Ordinarily
we'd get our database guy, who wrote the whole system, to fix it, but he's
off skiing in France. So ... anyone got any ideas about to convince the
server to let us delete and then upload the backup file?
