RE: FN-FORUM: So, exactly what is web design? was: Full-time designer needed

date posted 1st March 2004 11:23

I worked in Birmingham, in a portacabin, so in the summer when it got realy
hot we had to take the lid off the BBC Micro so it wouldn'd crash lol. I
went on a BBC Basic course, joined a uni forum and picked up the
'mathematical' bits from some others. It was so satisfying when I took the
machine out into the field for testing. It was only when we added sound that
the children really became interested, I recall one little girl with Downs
was so excited - we were learning parts of the face - and she was just
pointing to her own face and saying the words. The ST said she'd never done
that before. But the money run out, so I ended up playing with lasers
instead ;-)

Yup, the Beeb!

I worked for the MEP from 1982 to 1984 - it's dying years, so to say. We
stopped being the MEP and because someting else after Central Government
policy changed.

Apart form the control technology stuff, I also worked on projects with
children with both learning difficulties and physical disabilities. I left
when my wife started a university course, in Nottingham, and freelanced /
contracted from then to now. I feel that I contributed more to the quality
of life of people during those two years than I've done in the intervening
20.....
