FN-FORUM: Odd network authentication error

Hi all,

This isn't a client, but I'd like to check if anyone else is getting the
same problem I am.

In the Free Personal Alarms story, clicking the red "More..." link should
open up a Word document.

However, I'm asked for a Network Authentication password when I click the
link (one of the "Check this box to remember this password" ones) which, if
I cancel I can get to the document. The Network Authentication box
identifies the .doc file at the website as the file I need a password to
access.

I'm running IE 6.0.2 on a networked machine where the network uses ICS (my
machine isn't the connection machine). I get the error in my IE, but not my
Netscape.

As a test I've uploaded a different Word doc to my webspace and tried to
download it, with no box appearing. Also uploaded the .doc form the website
to my webspace with no box appearing when I attempt to download it.

Thinking I've got some odd security things going on with my IE, I've
checked/changed them but to no avail. The connection PC here gets the
document with no Authentication boxes, and has the same security settings
for it's IE as on my machine.

It's become a WTF for me, as can't identify why I get the box and just...
can't... leave it alone...

Any suggestions most welcome.
