the current site I am working on uses Smarty templates for all content -- it
is probably one of the best known PHP template systems and it has a lot
(overkill IMO) of features and is quite powerful but like all PHP template
systems it's completely superfluous ... :) if it were up to me I'd rip it
out and bin it ...
