You have a bit of a disjunction in what you've written:

Assuming the wireless router is an ADSL/broadband router, you don't
need to go through the XP box.
If it's just an Access Point, and you're using an ADSL modem directly
connected to the XP box (USB) for 'net access and are trying to share
that via ICS then you'll have problems because ICS wants to act as its
own freaky DHCP server normally.
What exactly is the configuration you've got (including hardware
models where appropriate)?
