FN-FORUM: Tracking Referrals Q

A client has been offered commission on recommending a product but needs
to be able to track these referrals. Normally he just pointed people to
the website and told them to say he sent them, but he wants to put it on
a more reliable footing.

I know we could just add ?referrer to the link, but what if they don't
buy it straight away and bookmark another page in the site to return at
a later date, or merely omit who referred them?

Any recommendations for this?
