Re: FN-FORUM: What Laptop?
date posted 6th January 2005 16:27
I've been doing some research on this, since I _really_ want to get a
laptop before uni. I love the Tatung TNB-B12! [1] Available from
WalMart [2]. This is, as far as I can tell, the same as the LC2100 [3]
and very similar to the Alienware Sentia [4]. However, they're all
American sites, and I'm not sure how much it'd cost to get it into the
country.
The laptop is basically very similar to the smallest PowerBook. It
has, IMO, a very cool button that you press to make it start up like a
DVD/Music player - no OS required. All the specs look very nice I
think - its 12.1" widescreen (*drool), including 3D graphics, 3D
sound, 4-in-1 card reader(!) and all the usual features. And... it's
only =A3530 from the Wal-Mart site (at current exchange rate). If only I
were in America (and had the money).
Well, if you (or anyone else) falls in love with it (or the price tag)
and manage to get hold of one - I'd love to know how! I guess that LC
will ship it to the UK, but no idea how much that would cost
(anyone?). And the Alienware, though it looks nice, seems to be a
little over-priced in comparison (though still under =A31K I think).
Anyone else know any 12.1" widescreen laptops? I think they look
perfect for uni. Dell do one in America (damn it!) - the m700 I think
it's called. I like the ones that Japanese students always seem to
have.. the small but powerful ones. Anyone know where I get these
sort?
Regards, Joe.
