yea - could simply be a bad line.

not sure i can be arsed any more!
things seem to be working ok now :o)
i just get the feeling i could twiddle with the settings some more -
but that might just screw things up more!
interestingly i ended up using PPPoA instead of PPPoE and immediately
got better performance...
i think turning off 'distribute IP addresses' in the airport was the
kiddy tho.
