FN-FORUM: Mac vs Linux advice?

Hi all,

I'm thinking about getting myself a laptop - as does a lot of people
on the list! I was initially thinking about getting a PC and then get
it to dual-boot to some flavour of Linux, but for a number of reasons,
thinking that is not such a great idea. For starters, Linux seems to
have problems with the equivalent of suspend/sleep. So anyway, I
thought maybe I should splash out a bit more and go for a Mac...

So, have any of you switched from Linux to Mac? Can you list some bad
points of Mac's? I suspect that there is plenty of stuff on the net,
I'll continue looking after this. I'm really struggling to decide
between a PowerBook or a Win/Linux PC... I know there are lot's of you
with Mac's - some maybe announce it more than others! I'd be wanting
to take it to uni - can you think of any disadvantages of using a Mac?

I've heard plenty of great things about those little white boxes, but
I'm sure there are some bad points as well? I'd quite like to be able
to compare Mac OS(X) to Linux?
