Sylvia - if the images have been supplied by commercial litho printers it's
possible that they're in CMYK mode. Ensure the Photopaint JPGs are saved in
RGB.

Well, if you're going for cheap, you can pick up a cheapo PC for
300-500 quid that'll do you for uni stuff which you could dualboot
win/linux.
