sorry Dave, but I think OSX *is* as geeky as it can get :-)

i have mySQL, Apache and PHP running sweetly here - creating Virtual
Servers for all my dev projects and using Golive as my dev environment
- i basically have all the tools at my disposal that any ISP / hosting
company could offer...

plus the fact that the thing is damn stable, never crashes, is fast as
f--k etc. etc...

i have no want or use for Windows software - i don't even have VPC
installed any more!

as said, i guess it all depends on what you are trying to do...
