My dad has a friend who likes making fiberglass panels to replace the
standard metal ones. What a crazy guy!
He goes and buys the original panels and then makes the mold from those,
adjusting as necessary...
Is your 1:1 replica going to be a stand-alone thing, or something
retrofitted to the existing car? As someone said, the errors in scaling
up are going to be multiplied. I don't care how good your model makers
are - if it's to be retrofitted, it just won't work. And don't forget
about hidden surfaces (insides of wheel arches, the insides of panels
(ie, mounting points), or, hell, the interior of the car.
Still, building cars is fun (erm, to watch. Which is all I did. Manual
labour is so not me).
