RE: FN-FORUM: Site Check

Hi Luke,
In all honesty I've always gone with a butterfly or a leaf on past designs.
But I wanted to show and stand out a bit more so I went with my new slogan
"fresh creative solutions"
So I placed a holding page of some fruit as I cant think of nothing fresher
than that!
Then I had that I started looking around for ideas and started to play with
various other sites and re work them. I've always had a thing for box
designs. And this new shadow outline thing which everyone is doing just
seemed like a good idea.
And I've always liked the idea of scanning drawings on paper and building
the site like that. So this shadow kinda made it look like a bit of paper
and worked from there. Using that handwriting font and grey text as pencil
writing, and I tried to pump life into each page by taking a tone from each
of the fruits.
I don't like to use much text as I cant spell and never know what to say. So
I went for a fresh clean symbol design that does the job I hope!
In all honesty this is probably a load of crap! Lol But its been ages since
I designed a site I liked, so I took 6 months off and came up with this. And
I hope it done the trick, though it seems to please my fellow designers (you
lot)
Regards,
John

i'm interested how you arrived at the concept John.
did you do much pre-planning, or just had a bunch of fruit and a flash
of inspiration?
