RE: FN-FORUM: Stack Overflow

Hi Caerwyn;
Thanks for that, I have a backup using Ghost. I take new backup images
very two months, then copy My-Docs folder across to my G: dive every
weekend. Lost a program I was trying out, a small CSS editor; but am,
buying the full version anyway.
Kind Regards
D.G

Is it just by running the system that you're seeing this stack overflow
message or is it some other application?
I'm no expert but here's what I look at when one of my systems goes ape
(Sorry, one has to be so PC these days, I do hope there's no apes on the
list...).
1) Make sure you have a backup of crucial data in case anything really
bad
happens. And in my experience a minor crash can be followed by a blue
screen
a little later and then the final whammy. Don't get caught with your
pants
down.
2) Disk could be crucially fragmented. Try the free version of
DisKeeper.
3) May something has blatted your registry. The only tool I know for
this
which seems to do the job is Norton Utilities.
4) You could have picked up something nasty on the net. If it's viral or
spyware then try the usual suspects AVG, AdAware, Spybot, etc.
5) If you're loosing CPU cycles somewhere then maybe you could download
Process Explorer from http://www.sysinternals.com. This is a site which
has
some pretty good tools for finding out who's doing what to your system.
Cheers
Caerwyn
