The rather complicated answer is that it depends upon the DPI of the medium
the text or image is being displayed on. If it helps at all with your
conversion, there are 6 picas to an inch. Picas are subdivided into "points"
and there are 12 "points" per pica (and so logically 72 points to an inch).
In some "default circumstances", points and pixels are interchangeable i.e.
1 pica = 1 pixel.
