FN-FORUM: Windows XP asking for password when none was set up
date posted 27th January 2005 21:44
Hi guys
Something weird has just happened to my Windows XP Professional SP2
machine. I've never set a password on the machine, just a username, and
I ran the routine Windows Update process and installed the Critial Updates.
Rebootd the machine as requested, and it's taken me to the login screen.
Not a problem, I thought, since I never set a password before and the
machine usually just boots to the desktop. Pressed OK with a blank
password and it wouldn't let me in. Tried every known password I've ever
set and it won't let me in.
I then rebooted the machine but it didn't make a difference.
Reboed to go into Safe Mode and it's still asking me for a password. I
ever set up an Administrator account because I just set up the one
account, which is mine.
Any ideas on why this is happening?
