Hi Lindsey
Great - another opportunity to lay into T-Mobile.
I signed up with them back when they were One2One. Honoured my
contract period and never bothered making any changes to my plan for
the balance of time I was with them. I had over the years various
problems with bad or zero reception in various areas. Often found
voice mails hours after they were deposited in my 'box', but I lived
with all this as I didn't expect the grass to be that much greener on
the other side of the fence. I didn't have SMS so I can't comment on
their service in that area.
A year ago, I decided that it was time to get a new phone. Walked into
a T-Mobile shop and made the request. They made a call to T-Mobile's
head office and I was then advised that I did not 'qualify' for any
new plan with a 'free' phone. I protested - pointed out that I had
been a loyal customer for years and years but to no avail. It seems my
usage had been 'below the level necessary to justify providing a new
phone at no charge' - in other words - I'm a lousy customer!
So I walked out, round the corner and into the outstretched arms of
Orange. I got a 'free' Motorola v500 (probably now discontinued but
that's technology for you) for signing on for =A330/month with 200
minutes free, any network, anytime. I have rarely gone over the 200
mins and there's a rollover 'buffer' of 200 mins which means I've
never had to pay for any excess.
As regards reliability of the voice calls - I can now receive/make
calls in Bourne End, Bucks (a regular client lives there) and in fact
I'm hard pressed to think of any occasion when I could not
make/receive a call. I did notice on last bill, Orange had credited me
for 2 lost calls - news to me but I'm not going to argue with them
about that!
A regards SMS - again, no problems I am aware of. The GPRS/WAP side -
I am less than happy - particularly since someone demonstrated the
other day how fast his Vodaphone GPRS runs in comparison with mine. So
that's an issue I intend pursuing with Orange when I have a moment
As to cancelling the contract ... hmmm ... I would think you are
within your legal rights as a consumer but ... not an expert!
Hope that helps!=20
Dave
PS - must remember to forward to T-Mobile customer relations
